To help a contestant answer difficult questions there are three lifelines available during the game. These lifelines are Ask the Audience, Fifty/Fifty and Phone a Friend.
1. Ask the Audience.
If a contestant is not sure of the answer he or she can ask the audience what they think. The contestant may then follow the studio audience’s advice or ignore it in selecting an answer.
If a contestant is not sure of the answer he or she may ask the Quizmaster to apply the Fifty/Fifty rule. Two of the four possible answers will be removed, leaving the contestant with two answers to choose from.
3. Phone a Friend.
If a contestant is not sure of the answer he or she may ask the Quizmaster to phone a friend or relative. The Quizmaster will then make a phone call from the studio to a pre-arranged friend or relative of the contestant. Once the Quizmaster has explained to the friend the nature of the call the contestant may then ask their friend’s advice about the answer.
Each of these lifelines is available for use only once during a game.
A contestant may use more than one lifeline during a single question. However, once used a lifeline cannot be reused.
A contestant may use all three lifelines on a single question. If a contestant is still unsure of the answer he or she may end the game and leave with all the prize money won so far.
